About the treatment

Please note that the Internet-based treatment/study described on this website is conducted in Swedish and only available to people registered and living in Stockholm, Sweden.

The study (the Magdalena study) is open from November 16, 2015, for those living in Stockholm County.

We want to study the effect of Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) and medical treatment in pregnant women with depression. All participants will receive ICBT and then will be receiving (randomly) antidepressant medication or placebo pills.

Participants will throughout the treatment have contact with a therapist who helps and supports them in the treatment process.

The treatment is based on well researched methods for depression, but is adapted to the specific conditions of pregnancy. This includes both physical symptoms, the expectations and changes that are related to pregnancy, whether it's your first child or if you already have children.

You will, on three occasions during your pregnancy and twice during the first three months after your child is born, visit our health office in Huddinge. There you will meet a psychiatrist and a midwife for conversations about your health.

Before each visit you will, at home, answer a couple of questionnaires on the Internet. The midwife will also take blood samples of, among other things, your hormone levels and medicine concentration and you will be given materials to leave saliva samples that you manage yourself.
